REGULATION OF CABLE TELEVISION NETWORK IN MAHARASHTRA

 

 

 

The CABLE TELEVISION NETWORK ( REGULATION) ACT 1995 was enacted with a view to regulate the operation of cable Television Network in the country so as to bring uniformity in their operations and to avoid undesirable programmes being made available to viewers.

 

As per PRASAR BHARATI ( BCI) Gazette Notification, from the commencement of the Cable Television Networks ( Regulation) Act 1995.

 

1.  It is mandatory for all the Cable operators to carry DD National DD News, DD Sahyadri in the Prime Band.

 

Prime Band frequency range:

47, Mhz to 68 Mhz & 174 Mhz to 230 Mhz

 

 

2.  No Cable Operators shall transmit any signal in the frequency band used by Mumbai Doordarshan Terrestrial Transmitters as given below:

 

Band # 2          Ch # 6              180 Mhz to 187 Mhz

Band # 3          Ch # 12            230 Mhz to 237 Mhz

 

 

3.  The cable operators in all states and union territories of India shall also re-transmit the following DD channels in non-Prime Band

 

        DD Sports Channel

        DD Lok Sabha Channel

        DD Rajya Sabha Channel

        Gyan Darshan Channel

        DD Urdu Channel

 

 

4.  It is mandatory to receive the must carry channels from satellite by Using dish antenna only, ( not by Yagi antenna) and using Satellite Receivers to maintain a good quality till the point of consumer end.

 

5.  The DD Channel shall be retransmitted without any deletion and distortion till it reaches the end user.
