Mortal remains of N K P Salve laid to rest in Nagpur

The mortal remains of veteran Congress leader and former Union Energy Minister N K P Salve were laid to rest at the Jaripatka Christian cemetery in Nagpur today.
 
Salve, who was accorded a state funeral, died at a private Hospital in Delhi yesterday after brief illness and age related problems.
 
Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting, Ms. Ambika Soni, who was present for the funeral expressed grief at the demise of the veteran Congress leader.  She visited the All Saint Cathedral Church and laid a wreath on behalf of the Prime Minister.
 
In her condolence message Ms. Ambika Soni said “Shri Salve was a veteran politician who served the country in different capacities. He was a man of varied interests, which went beyond politics. He was closely associated with the development of cricket in India. He also belonged to that generation of politicians, whose conduct in public life was based on certain values.  In his death, the country has lost a senior and distinguished leader.”
 
Union Minister for Heavy Industries Praful Patel, Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and his cabinet colleagues were also present at the funeral
