18th All India Textile Committee Liaison Officers' Training Programme in Mumbai

Mumbai: November 2,2012

Textile Committee has been mapping the textile consumption in household sector under National Household Sample Survey in the country.  This surveys envisages textile purchase data collection from 13520 households spread across 111 urban & 252 rural centres across 28 states and 2 union territories.  This survey is the only one of  its kind in Asia in the field of textiles & clothing which is organized on continual basis.

 

The Liaison Officers are grass root level work force who are engaged for collecting textile purchase data on bi-monthly basis and are paid honorariums.  The 18th All India Liaison Officers’ Training Programme is being held on 2nd & 3rd November, 2012 at Mumbai.  A total of 300 Liaison Officers are participating in this programme.

 

This kind of training programme will help them in capacity building, enriching their knowledge & improving the skills for data collection.  This will also be helpful in improving the data quality. The proposed conference will also deliberate on new plans and programmes of Textiles Committee with respect to Market Research Wing.

 

The annual report “Market for Textiles and Clothing: National Household Sample Survey” is published annually by the textile committee.  The report provides trends and market size of important textile varieties and also throws light on purchasing patterns of textiles in domestic market. This kind of data bases are very useful tools for planners and those in the trade and industry.

 

Shri A.B. Joshi, Textile Commissioner and Vice-Chairman of Textile Committee was the chief guest and Shri Anil Rajvanshi, Senior Vice President, Reliance Industries was the guest of honour at the inaugural function.
