Proposal to make Gujarat A NSG Hub

New Delhi: December 12,2012

On receipt of a request from Government of Gujarat, the Ministry of Home Affairs has conveyed to the Government of Gujarat its ‘in principle’ approval for setting up of a Regional Hub of National Security Guard (NSG) in Gujarat, subject to the State Government providing the required land free of cost, at the location found suitable by the NSG.

Government has already established and operationalized National Security Guard (NSG) Base/ Hubs at Manesar, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai. The number/strength of commando groups at these Hubs/base cannot be disclosed in the interest of national security.

This was stated by Shri R.P.N.Singh, Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs in written reply to a question by Shri Kaptan Singh Solanki in the Rajya Sabha today.
